I love working with the kids at CoderDojo and Techgirlz and am always on the lookout for new projects and technologies. Looking through a Raspberry PI magazine, I spotted a Do-It-Yourself AI kit from Google and since it was only $10, why not give it a try? Like all tech projects, I had a few frustrations, but I ended up with a fully functioning Google Assistant inside a cardboard box, with a big red button on top, and a Raspberry PI, speaker and microphone inside. It doesn’t quite feel like twelve months have passed since I wrote my 2017 end-of-year blog. Like all years I’ve been involved in CoderDojo, 2018 has been a year of much change and growth across our movement. First things first: we welcomed 660 new Dojos to the community. Celebrating Libraries at EUDojo 2018

On Wednesday 17 October, CoderDojo held our sixth annual EUDojo in the European Parliament in Brussels. Since last year’s event, CoderDojo has grown significantly, with almost 500 new Dojos. It is incredible that this Irish-founded initiative has turned into a global phenomenon, with clubs in over 100 countries worldwide. EUDojo coincides with the sixth year of Europe Code Week, and the event was co-hosted by MEP Sean Kelly and the EPP party. It was attended by MEPs from over 10 countries. CoderDojo Foundation report Q1 and Q2 2018

The first half of 2018 was incredibly busy for us, from taking over the running of Coolest Projects International, to focusing on developing resources for new and existing Dojos! We verified 363 new Dojos in this period, a 24% increase that brings the grand total of active Dojos worldwide to 1860 spread across 95 countries.
