Are you ready for DojoCon 2016?

The Annual CoderDojo Community Conference, DojoCon, is open to anyone involved or interested in the CoderDojo movement.

This years event will run over three days from October 21st-23rd at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire and is titled: CoderDojo Connects: Smarter Tech, Smarter Living

What can people attending expect?

 

Friday:

DojoCon kicks off with a social in the dlr Lexicon Studio at approximately 6.30 (with early registration) on Friday evening for conference attendees and their partners (limited places available). The wine and canapé reception will feature lively Soapbox talks. Thanks to Dún Laoghaire Local Enterprise Office for hosting this. This will be followed by a trip to a local bar for some conversation, traditional music and fun.

 

This will be a great opportunity to meet and converse with the Foundation team and other CoderDojo members in an informal environment.

 

Saturday:

The Saturday timetable features opening presentations, before the conference splits into 3 streams: Elevate, Engage and IoT (The Internet Of Things). A detailed schedule of speakers will be available to guests upon arrival.

Speakers are attending from Belgium, Cameroon, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Madagascar, Turkey, UK & USA; and include:

Talks/workshops on “Tech for Everyday Living” are open to partners of conference attendees and the public on Saturday in the dlr Lexicon Library theatre.

Children of conference attendees can visit the dlr Lexicon Library to take part in “DojoThon“. “DojoThon” features several dojo sessions which children of attendees can attend or mentor at; this event is also open to local children. Priority booking for “DojoThon” & “Tech for Everyday Living” available to people who have booked a DojoCon community ticket.

Lunch is at 12.30 in the stunning Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire; this offers a fantastic opportunity to mingle with other CoderDojo Community Members. Lunch is followed by more engaging talks, presentations and networking opportunities.

Evening: All conference attendees and their partners are welcome to a fun and relaxed after party in the Royal Marine Hotel, with live music, finger food and plenty of craic.

 

Sunday:

DojoCon attendees and their families are invited to enjoy “DojoCamp” at the local People’s Park – CoderDojo sessions will run in a marquee from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m..  Children of attendees and children from the area can go along, maybe even to mentor, and the family can enjoy lunch al fresco from one of many Market Food Stalls.

Showcasing your Project at DojoCon 2016?

As part of the event we will have a Project Showcase area where Ninjas can demonstrate their project to visiting Mentors and between 10am-3pm on Saturday to other budding Ninjas. You will be given a working area to setup, so you can demonstrate/explain your project idea. Tickets are available here. For the full weekend (Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday inclusive) tickets are €20. Discount codes are available for students, unwaged, retired people, etc. (please email [email protected] for details).
