Coder Dojo and the US Embassy launch a competition to make games with an aim This is Not a Game, a video game challenge for students, launched at the Festival of Curiosity on 24 July. The goal is to use the fun and popularity of games to raise awareness of Marine issues like overfishing, ocean pollution and ocean acidification. ESL Students in Albemarle Use CoderDojo Academy

Learning the ins and outs of computers isn’t always fun and games, but it was Wednesday in Albemarle County. CoderDojo has students helping other students in English as a second language (ESL). The program was started in Ireland and brought over as a way for kids to be not only consumers of technology, but also creators of it. The Duke of York hosts Young Coders at Buckingham Palace!

The Duke of York hosted 60 young people from schools in London’s Victoria area at Buckingham Palace today, teaching children the basics of computer coding. The session was supported by CoderDojo. The youngsters had the opportunity to learn the basics of computer programming and created their own games and websites, with guidance from nine young mentors from UK Dojos in Wilmslow, Cheadle, Manchester, Oxford and Shoreditch.
