We are delighted to release our Annual Report on the activities and success of the CoderDojo movement during 2017. We celebrated 6 years of CoderDojo, supported Dojos in 92 countries, launched the Girls initiative with the goal of increasing the number of girls in the movement towards gender parity, we released our second book, and our global conference Dojocon was held outside of Ireland for the first time.  In May we joined forces with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to create one of the largest sustained, global efforts to help young people learn computing and digital making. On a beautiful sunny day on the 22nd of April I travelled to Belgium to visit Coolest Projects Belgium 2018. It was an amazing event with 91 kids building 64 projects. Nearly 100 volunteers ran a very fun and professional event which attracted as many as 3,000 visitors across 3 hours in the Technopolis Mechelen. It was so much fun to see all the amazing projects; from live chickens, water conservation, football playing robots, 3D animations to walking sticks that can sense the world for you. At the CoderDojo Foundation our mission is to give more young people the opportunity to code and create. To focus on this mission, our aims are twofold; to grow the amount of Dojos and to support and retain the clubs that are currently running. To achieve both these aims we are piloting a new initiative of CoderDojo starter packs. This helpful pack includes hardware, educational content and materials which will help you create a sustainable Dojo for years to come. In many countries far fewer women than men study STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) subjects and work in these fields. Across 35 European countries, less than one in five computer science graduates is a woman. At the CoderDojo Foundation, we believe it is vitally important that we band together and make a conscious, consistent, and collaborative effort to increase the number of girls who have the opportunity to learn how to create with technology.
