What’s new for 2022 and key benefits – Coolest Projects Global
Coolest Projects started ten years ago as a way for CoderDojo clubs to share their projects with the wider community. Over the last ten years, it has grown to become the world-leading technology showcase for young creators up to 18 years of age. Coolest Projects Global celebrates young people’s games, websites, apps, hardware, and Scratch projects in an online showcase and a live-streamed ceremony.
Coolest Projects is free to enter and aims to recognise and reward creators, regardless of their experience, skill level, background, or choice of programming language, in a safe and encouraging space online.
What’s new in 2022?
To celebrate ten years of Coolest Projects, we have lots of exciting updates for participants in the 2022 showcase. Similarly to previous years, all creators will receive a certificate of participation and have the opportunity to be selected as a favourite by our VIP judges. But this year, there will also be:
- Digital and physical swag for every participant
- New project topics such as health, environment, community, art, and more
- Direct feedback for all creators about their projects from the judges
- Celebratory medals for category favourites selected by the VIP judges
Why should your Dojo get involved with Coolest Projects?
We felt so proud to see hundreds of Dojos around the world participate in last year’s online showcase. Coolest Projects has many benefits for Dojos, including:
- The opportunity for your Ninjas to be part of a global celebration
- Coolest Projects resources to support creators
- Recognition and rewards for the young people involved in your club
Why should Ninjas enter Coolest Projects?
Coolest Projects is a great motivator for young people because it gives them a purpose to work towards. It also helps young people develop their project design, coding, user testing, and presentation skills. Ninjas who enter Coolest Projects will:
- Experience a welcoming and inclusive environment — all skill levels are welcome!
- Get their project featured on the showcase gallery website where people all around the world can recognise their efforts
- Have the opportunity to be selected as a VIP judge’s favourite
- Receive a certificate of participation and swag
How to get started
Young people can start planning their creations for this year’s online showcase using:
- New project paths that develop independence
- Our idea generation worksheets
- Last year’s project gallery — a great place to start thinking about what to make
Project registration closes on 11 May 2022.
