How to Create & Promote your #BackToDojo event!

Many CoderDojo clubs who took a break over the summer are preparing to return #BackToDojo. During this time we’ve made booking tickets into your Dojo simpler for parents on the CoderDojo platform (Zen). Dojo events are easier to discover, the booking process is better at handling group bookings and more! This ensures that parents will have a great experience finding and booking into your next event!

Once you are registered as a Dojo Champion, or have been given Dojo Admin rights, you can create events (and recurring events) as shown below.

Create your next Dojo event on the platform!

When you have created your Dojo event on the platform your events will be easily discoverable when parents and volunteers search for clubs in their area on the CoderDojo website. You can learn more about the improvements that make booking tickets easier for parents and mentors attending your Dojo here.

You can share your event on social media channels. Be sure you have your social media accounts linked in your Dojo profile, so people who search for and find your Dojo via the map can follow you for any updates! You can also embed the event on your Dojo website or blog!

Publicise your Dojo

Use our flyers and Dojo poster! You can also create your own social media banners for free using canva. Upload images and combine them with text and other elements from our style guide to create awesome images to recruit mentors in your area.

Recruiting mentors

Once they have registered on the community platform they can avail of our free E-learning modules which guide them through how to be a mentor and Safeguarding children. Additional mentor resources are available too.

As mentors and youths book tickets to your event will be able to assess how big your Dojo will be and the amount of resources or additional volunteers you might need. You can also filter and email specific members of your Dojo, such as mentors within the platform to share what content you are planning to cover over different sessions. Dojo Admin can also check in Ninjas as they arrive at the Dojo. By checking them in they will automatically be awarded attendance badges!

Did you know if your Dojo is currently using Eventbrite you can connect it to your Dojo page on the CoderDojo Platform? Find out more about the benefits and how you can connect your Dojo Page so that more ninjas can find and attend your events here!
