We’re Hiring a Community Coordinator for Ireland
Location: Dublin, with travel to other sites and event venues
Rate: €27500 – €38000, dependent on experience
Basis: permanent; full-time, part-time or flexible
Eligibility: you must be eligible to work in Ireland
The Role
CoderDojo is a global movement of free computer coding clubs for young people. The first Dojo was started six years ago, and there are now more than 1500 active Dojos in 75 countries, giving 45000 young people the opportunity to learn how to code in a fun, social environment. The CoderDojo movement is supported by the CoderDojo Foundation, a registered charity based in Dublin that is part of the Raspberry Pi Foundation family.
We are now looking for an energetic Community Coordinator to join our team. You will be in charge of working with the growing CoderDojo community in Ireland, and you will act as our main point of contact with this community. Your responsibilities will include hosting community meetups, supporting existing Dojos, and engaging with various organisations, such as libraries, corporations, and educational institutions, to start new Dojos. In addition, you will work as part of the CoderDojo Foundation community team to implement and test different scaling and support strategies to deliver high-value impact for our community of CoderDojo volunteers.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and digital making. They’ll be highly methodical, with strong project management and community engagement skills, and experience of keeping multiple strands of work moving forward at the same time.
The CoderDojo Foundation’s staff is a team of fourteen people. Our offices are in Dogpatch Labs, a co-working space in the city centre of Dublin, where we also run a Dojo for local young people twice a month. We are passionate about education and technology. Main responsibilities
Community engagement
- Increase the number of Dojos across the island of Ireland
- Support existing Champions and Mentors in managing their Dojos
- Identify core challenges facing Dojos, and work with the community team to develop strategies and initiatives to overcome these
- Build relationships with stakeholder groups who can scale CoderDojo through hosting Dojos or providing Mentors, e.g. libraries, corporations, government and educational institutions, etc.
- Deliver training sessions for existing or potential community members, e.g. child protection training
- Develop and lead face-to-face community engagement projects
- Organise and deliver relevant online engagement opportunities, such as termly Twitter chats
- Work with the existing community to run and support various community events
Marketing and outreach
- Organise recruitment campaigns to grow the community of Champions and other volunteers
- Work with our communications team to ensure relevant and engaging content for blogs and social media
- Manage engagement plans, creating messages and ensuring consistency across Irish regions
- Devise and send Irish community-wide communications, including surveys and newsletters
- Work with our Events Manager to represent the CoderDojo Foundation at key events in Ireland
Experience and personal attributes
You should be:
- A natural collaborator with a history of working across teams to achieve results
- Passionate about technology, education, and digital making, and familiar with the ecosystems and communities surrounding these fields
- A strong communicator, and confident speaking in front of groups and delivering presentations
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Confident using social media platforms and email marketing tools
You should have:
- At least 3 years’ experience within a relevant sector, such as technology, education, digital making, social enterprise, or non-profit
- Relationship management experience through developing or managing professional partnerships
- Previous accomplishments in communications and marketing
You will ideally have:
- A full clean Irish or European driving license
- Experience of working with and coordinating volunteers
- Experience of coordinating marketing campaigns
