Community Content Release: Hardware projects to improve your life

This week I present you with more hardware projects from CoderDojo York!

Plant Moisture Monitor (Arduino)

Remembering to water the plants is a problem faced by many. Personally I find it hard to know when some of them need watering too. Well, thanks to technology these things need worry us no more! The Arduino was designed especially to let you program things like sensors. With this resource you learn how to use a moisture sensor and program an Arduino to flash to tell you when your plant needs watering. If you really want to go all out you can also get a Raspberry Pi to tweet you a reminder. ??

Step Counter (micro:bit)

Who needs an expensive fitness device when you can make your own and get fit with a BBC micro:bit! This guide, suitable for beginners, “steps” you through how to do it.

Then all that’s left is to start clocking up your daily 10,000! ??‍♀️

Sharing is Caring!

If you’ve made resources for your Dojo, why not share them with the wider community? They are bound to be useful in other Dojos: if they worked for your Ninjas then they’re already tried and tested! Drop me a mail directly to [email protected] or pop a post in the forums if you would like to contribute some content. I’d love to hear from you 😀
