Greek Dojo off to a great start; with Arduino & LED content

Iraklis, a Web Developer and Designer, also Champion’s Nafpaktos Dojo in Greece. Here he tells us about their 1st Dojo and shares the resources they used:

The first workshop of CoderDojo Nafpaktos, which was held at the welcoming and hospitable P-Space, was a great success! Within an atmosphere of enthusiasm and cooperation the participating coding Ninjas:

• examined for the first time the programmable Arduino boards and some of the electrical components,
• created their first circuits using conductors, resistors and LEDs
• developed their first programs using the web platform of codebender (codebender.cc)

The amazing team of P-Space, composed by highly skilled Computer Engineers and Electrical Engineers from the University of Patras, coached and inspired our Ninja Coders with their exciting projects that they developed using Arduino boards and other components inside their labs.

Really valuable assistance was offered by the codebender’s company representative who acted as a mentor during the whole event and offered guidance to the children’s programming attempts.

It is very important to mention that P-Space and codebender, besides offering voluntary assistance, empowered our labs with all the materials and electronic components that where necessary for the implementation of our workshops along with wonderful souvenirs for everyone.

Finally, we would like to warmly thank Papoulias Donuts located at Rio Patras that offered plentiful and delicious donuts to all the participants of our workshop.

And keep in mind that our creativity trip is to be continued every second Saturday with more labs on Arduino and many more surprises. So stay tuned!
