CoderDojo London: Girls event on the 16th of January 2016!
Following the resounding success of the first ever Girls CoderDojo at Thomson Reuters in June 2015, Coderdojo London are delighted to announce that they are partnering with University College London (UCL) for their next Girls Dojo!
They will be inviting 100 girls aged between 7 and 17 to join the session from 1pm – 5 pm on Saturday, January 16th at the UCL Campus in Gower Street, Central London (nearest tube station is Goodge Street on the Northern Line).
Tickets are limited so register ASAP!
What is CoderDojo? CoderDojo is a global community of free programming clubs for young people. They’re run all over the world on a weekly basis to give young people between the ages of 7 and 17 the opportunity to learn how to develop computer code, websites, apps, programs, games, digital media and explore technology. In addition to technology skills, the attendees also build complementary skills of creativity, innovation, communication, collaboration, teamwork and leadership. For the event on Jan 16th, Anne Marie Imafidon from Stemettes will join to speak to the girls.
Why Girls ? They have decided to make it a Girls event to echo UCL and CoderDojo’s work to encourage girls into STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
What technologies are on offer? From novice to those with coding experience – the Dojo will cover a range of exciting technologies including Scratch, Python, Javascript, Raspberry PI, programmable robots and more.
Who will be at the event? There is an awesome team of Mentors for this event including current UCL Computer Science students and volunteers from across CoderDojo Londons network of supporters (Thomson Reuters, Barclays, John Lewis, Mozilla and Deloitte) who will be on hand to help with the exercises and answer questions on the day.
Please note: The participants will need to bring a laptop per child to participate and be aged between 7 and 17 years of age.
