Computer coding club CoderDojo comes to town

A new breed of computer coding, tech-savvy youngsters is forming in Nelson, with the launch of after-school coding club CoderDojo.
Local web designer Aidan Curran and half a dozen other volunteer mentors started the club late last year with the aim of seeing young people develop their skills and explore computer technology.
“I heard about it from my brother in Ireland and thought it would be a really cool thing to have here in Nelson,” Curran said.
“I talked to some colleagues of mine and found some who were interested in getting one up and running, and then got in contact with someone at NMIT.”
