Community Diary: Rotary International to Hold a One-Off Dojo in Belfast by Grainne Bagnall
On 11th April 2015, Rotary International Great Britain in partnership with CoderDojo Belfast and Belfast Metropolitan College will hold a one-off Dojo at the Hilton Hotel, Belfast where we will have 200 ninjas from North and South attending with their parents and mentors.
It is a one day event which brings together teams from Dojo’s all over Ireland who will demonstrate and present their coding skills, apps and websites during the morning. This provides an opportunity for team building, practising communication skills and problem solving. We hope this will be the first of similar events to take place over the island of Ireland over the coming years.
We will have key note speakers and presentations by President of Rotary Great Britain and Ireland through the morning along with some other special guests.
Registration is also open to all existing CoderDojo existing members or new youth looking to get involved. To register see our Eventbrite page – https://rotarycoderdojobelfast.eventbrite.co.uk. Mentors are also required for the event and can register at the above link.
The format of the day will be a show and tell session to begin with followed by a 1 hour session in AppInventor introduction.
Rotary International is a service organisation which brings together business, professional and community leaders in order to provide humanitarian services as well as to help build goodwill all over the world. There are 34, 282 clubs with over 1.2 million members worldwide
