CoderDojo to Feature at this Year’s Global Marathon

2015 Global Marathon

IBM will host its annual Global Marathon – For, By, and About Women over two days from 9th March 2015.  The worldwide event is a free, virtual gathering for women interested in engineering and technology.

It will consist of live, interactive webcasts featuring women from a huge range of experience levels, professions, age groups, cultures and industries.  The aim of the event is to unite women all over the world who have an interest in these areas.

There will be two signature events during the marathon led by IBM featuring prominent female speakers from different areas of technology and engineering.  The first will focus on the women who are making a difference at IBM, with the second being about equipping girls with free IT Education aka coding!

CoderDojo are delighted to be involved in this year’s marathon and to be the key point of one of the signature events. Our Development Lead, Giustina Mizzoni, will be speaking during this event about Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Giustina will talking about CoderDojos experience of getting girls into Dojos, as well as discussing the future of CoderDojo.

This is a fantastic opportunity for us to highlight the need for more women in STEM as well as to promote the CoderDojo Girls movement.  Hopefully this discussion will result in raising awareness about the benefits of learning to code at a young age and will encourage anyone watching to become more involved in the world of STEM.

Anyone can join and hear the session on the day and women everywhere are encouraged to get involved in this amazing event.
