Introducing the CoderDojo Foundation & new CEO Mary Moloney
Dear CoderDojo Community,
It is with much anticipation and excitement that we are delighted to write this letter to announce three core changes to the Hello World Foundation over the coming months. Firstly come Summer, we will be re-branding to the CoderDojo Foundation. This has come about after internal discussion and the aim is two fold. To clear up confusion surrounding who the Hello World Foundation is and who we support and to bring a new level of alignment to the ever growing CoderDojo movement.

Secondly we’re delighted to announce that Mary Moloney will be joining the Foundation taking on the role of CEO from June. An experienced senior executive, Mary has held a number of lead positions at Accenture & clients of Accenture’s including Partner, Managing Director and Multiple C-Suite positions. She is also involved in a number of non profit initiatives such as the Dublin Fringe Festival, Dress for Success, Institute of International & European Affairs and the European Women’s Network. Familiar with CoderDojo, through her 9 year old son attending the Science Gallery Dojo, she is also in the process of setting up a Dojo where she lives in Sandymount, Dublin.
James has decided to focus on his programming career but will be still be involved in CoderDojo remaining a Director of the Foundation and of course always a founder of the movement. We hope you will join us in thanking James for his past efforts and welcoming Mary to her new position as she steers the Foundation into what is bound to be an incredibly exciting phase of growth.
Finally the Foundation is delighted to announce that we are in the process of altering our structure to become a membership organisation. This will allow Dojos that meet certain criteria to join as a member giving them certain rights in the running of the Foundation. We are committed and accountable to the CoderDojo community and have taken this step to further demonstrate this to Community members around the world. We will have an open consultation period for the CoderDojo community to have an input on specifics of how this will work.
