March Madness in Ever Expanding England!

Well what a month it was in March here in England – note that I’m being very careful here not to upset Craig from CoderDojo Scotland by talking about the “UK”, well at least for the moment ;o) To round up what’s been happening in our (allegedly) green and pleasant land according to Twitter here’s a summary of the happenings through the month:

    • Up in the North West we’ve had Nour use her @McrCoderDojo experience to set up her own new Dojo in Bolton with the first event taking place on 15th March.

    • Lisa (aka @yattyimages) also used her Manchester Dojo and Code Club experience to get  the new Cheadle Dojo up and running … and in the meantime found time to post a fantastic 1 minute time lapse of 130 ninjas over 4 hours at the Manchester Dojo held on 9th March … see more at .  Manchester attendees even saw a special guest appearance from @eugenemcd en route from Africa to Dublin!

    • Further down the map in the Southern territories we had a first-time Dojo hosted by @HaysNews in central London on 6th March with a very special guest of honour in the shape of @TheDukeOfYork to lend his support and help us publicise the movement – and with a number of @hwf friends making the journey across the Irish Sea to help out!

    • On 29th March Oxford held the first of their weekly Dojos based at @NMGames and run by Dojo Champion Tyriah (aka @tyriahkidcoder) – bridging the North/South divide by also holding a video link on the day with ninjas up in Bolton. More special guest appearances by @liaonet too!

    • Our colleagues @CoderDojoLondon were also very busy this month including a Dojo @TechHub on 14th March and attending the massive iDEA launch alongside @liaonet and @TheDukeOfYork (him again!) on 31st March.

    • The last day of the month also saw the first ever coding club take place in the Houses of Parliament when ninjas from all over the UK came together to showcase projects in front of MPs – kindly supported by all our friends @hwf, @HaysNews, @McAfee and by invitation from @Mp4Chester (Stephen Mosley MP).

    • As if that wasn’t enough we noted that @AylesburyCodeDo got their hands on some Galileo boards courtesy of @Intel (can’t wait to see posts on that), we also (finally) saw the long awaited article from the BBC Education Correspondent  @seanjcoughlan posted on the BBC website on 12th March, and finally @WilmslowDojo presenting to @Naace members at their Annual Strategic Conference on 28th March.

If any of you England Dojo’s did anything that I’ve missed then please accept apologies and make sure you are included next time by using the standard CoderDojo Twitter tags #coderdojo #dojodate #dojopics and making sure that I’m following you too!

Here’s to April in Anticipation ….
