December 2013 Community Call
Thank you to everyone who joined us this month in both the US & Ireland for our community call discussion Curriculum & Teaching.
Here are some of the resources that we'd like to share:
Scratch
Many dojos start off using Scratch as a way to introduce programming in a visual and interactive way.
What are some good next steps and ideas to get started?
- CoderDojo Kata (Wiki) Scratchtastic – http://kata.coderdojo.com/wiki/ScratchTastic
CoderDojo Silicon Valley has shared some of their great resources:
- Beginner Halloween Themed Game

Spin-Offs
What are some other alternatives i.e. if you don't have good Internet/wifi?
There are several other similar programs that dojos have tried:
Projects
We've thought about projects that the youth can pick up and work on if they wish, what are some ideas?
- Technovation Challenge – CoderDojo NYC and CoderDojo Silicon Valley have both had great experiences running through their Android App Inventor curriculum:

Bootstrap
CoderDojo Burlington VT has been tinkering with Bootstrap, have any other dojos used it?
- Algebraic Videogame Programming – Bootstrap is a curricular module for students ages 12-16, which teaches algebraic and geometric concepts through computer programming:

How can we contribute curriculum?
