Announcing DojoCon2014

Update: Now delayed, new date later in the year will announced shortly.

After a very successful DojoCon2013 in Slane Castle in April we took a short break before we started the search for next years location. In October we issued a call for submissions with a closing date of 2nd December. The idea behind this was to see who was interested and what they would propose without putting too much of a workload onto the already hard working community members. It was with great anticipation we waited for the submissions, we heard rumblings from around the country and further afield but we were in the dark on who would make submissions right up until the end so much so that when we received an email from one group to say they were not going to submit we all started to get worried!

We were delighted when we received great proposals from both Sligo (IRL) and Kerry (IRL) in the days just before the deadline. The calibre was very high and we were glad that we had already decided on the judging criteria and that the team would all score each proposal independently. We drafted in Graham O’Rourke as the representative from the team that ran DojoCon2013 to also judge both applications.
On reviewing the results it became apparent that all had scored both applicants pretty closely across the categories however there has to be only one selected in the end! And so with that, we are delighted to announce that DojoCon2014 will be held in County Sligo (IRL) on April 19th 2014.

Last years DojoCon had excellent international representation and we would love to see this happen again to ensure that this conference is truly representative of the CoderDojo community! Who knows where DojoCon2015 could be; at the rate the movement is growing it could be Australia, Italy, USA…
We wish Gillian and her all her team the best of luck in bringing their proposal to reality including pre-event mixer on the 18th! THe Hello World Foundation will be on hand to help make the event a true success! Stay tuned to the newsletter for updates!
