Hour of Code 2013 – CSEdWeek

CoderDojo is excited to partner with  Code.org and CSEdWeek alongside Microsoft, Google, Apple, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and over 100 others, to make history.

Our world is surrounded by technology. Information, commerce, communication, and entertainment all rely on computers. But only a tiny fraction of us learn computer science, the basics of how computers work, or how to create software, apps, or web sites.

We would like to see Dojo’s in the US and around the world showing how they can be creative in getting more people in there area coding, please surprise us.

This year, to celebrate Computer Science Education Week (Dec 9-15) 2013, we’re joining a massive campaign to prepare our population for the 21st century.

The Hour of Code campaign has an audacious goal: to introduce 10 million students to one hour of computer science. We encourage all of you to participate, in two ways:

  1. We welcome every dojo organizer, mentor and attendee to participate as students in December – we should all spend one hour to learn the basics of computer science.
  2. If you’re a parent, recruit your school to participate – ask your teacher or principal.

See http://hourofcode.org for details. Sign up to participate!
